Obituary of Gertrude Barrett

BARRETT, Gertrude Naomi (nee Porter) 1914 — 2014 Gertrude was born at Mount Moriah Newfoundland and she passed away at Lisaard House, with family by her side on Wednesday April 2 at the age of 100. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank L. Barrett; her son, Franklyn (Annalise Wiebe); and parents, Henry Thomas and Dorcas Ellen (nee Miles) Porter. She was also predeceased by her six brothers and sisters, Annette (Zachariah Park); Myrtle (Lester Allen); Brandford (Rachel Hunt); Herbert (Lillian Allen); Matilda (Ralph Elsworth); and Margaret. Gertrude is survived by her sons, Harry and his wife Juanita and Roland and his wife Karen; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. For a number of elections, she was the Province of Ontario Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Kitchener. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday April 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 23 Water St. N., Kitchener on Monday April 7th at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at the church. Cremation with interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
