Obituary of John Boulden
Born April 30, 1931, Port Hope, Ontario, died September 18, 2014 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, Ontario.
Son of Canon Charles Howard Boulden, MBE, and Dorothy Fraser Boulden, husband of Geralda (Dede), father of Jane and Eric (Andrea), proud grandfather of Matthew and Liam, brother of Margaret Walter (Don) and uncle to Heather, Kathryn and Tim Walter.
John attended Trinity College School (TCS) in Port Hope and graduated from Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 1952 (5T2). After a brief career in banking, in 1960 John and Dede moved to Kitchener-Waterloo where John pursued his dream of teaching history. That dream was fulfilled at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate (KCI) where he taught for 27 years and famously taking a year off to travel Canada from coast to coast with his family, recording the experience for the Kitchener Record as they went. An avid local historian, he always had a story to tell. John provided many years of service and leadership to a large number of community organizations and he was a dedicated member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Kitchener where he was a warden. He will be missed by a large circle of friends whom he deeply valued.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the 6 North nursing staff at Grand River Hospital for providing exceptional care to John during his illness.
The family will receive visitors at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo from 6:30-9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
