Obituary of Robert Power

Bob passed away, peacefully, at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre in Elmira, at the age of 94. Loving father of Maureen (Bruce) Soehner of Hanover and Hilary (Bob) Hughes of Innisfil. Will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Kari, Barry, Kelly, Cory, Sarah, George, Joe, Elisa, Stephanie, Connie, Niki, and Bob's 18 great-grandchildren. Dear step-father of Rosemary (Peter) Cadiou of Cambridge, Charles (Ruth) Ellis of Waterloo, and Sharon (Norman) Raycraft of Innisfil; step-grandchildren, Robyn Cadiou of Cambridge, Brian (Cori) Ellis of Omaha, NB, Brad (Erin) Ellis of Anola, MB, Sarah (Jon) Bastien of Hamilton, Kristi Gayowski of Waterloo, and Ian Bolton of England; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Cherished brother of George Power and his two daughters Sarah and Felicity. Predeceased by his first wife Gladys Power (1981) and second wife Marjorie "Peggy" Power (2010); daughter Victoria Power. Bob was employed with the Waterloo Region District School Board for many years. After his retirement, Bob was an active volunteer driver with the Canadian Cancer Society, an avid gardener and was also a past and longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Paisley, Ontario. During his early years, he served during WWII. He was a veteran who remained committed even during his retirement years. He was called upon to assist with the Remembrance Day Service for many years while residing at Leisureworld. Friends are invited to share their memories of Bob with his family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday October 10, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday October 11, 2014 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. followed by the Memorial Service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception to immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
