Bue, Roy Sylvester
July 5,1918- October 25, 2014
Passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on Saturday Oct. 25, 2014 at 96 years of age.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Eva (2001), brother Olaf, son John, and grandson Nathan.
He will be greatly missed by his children Marion Weber (Bill) of Waterloo, Joan (Shannon) of Carlyle Saskatchewan, and Michael (Maria) of Sidney Australia. Dearly remembered by Steve and Mary Kmiech, his brother and sister-in-law, and family in Edmonton, Alberta. Roy is also survived by nephew Steven Bue and by 6 grandchildren, Emily, Nolan, Neve, Nickel, Olivier, and Michelle.
Later in life, when they needed his love and support, he became especially close to his grandson Nathan (Chrissie) and great grandchildren Georgia, Montana, and Jasper.
Roy was born and raised on a wheat farm in the District of Amelia, Saskatchewan. His parents were Sylvester and Ruth (Griffin). He was a veteran of WW II., serving with the RAF and the RCAF in England, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war, he earned a degree in Mining Engineering at the University of Alberta and spent his career with International Nickel in Sudbury, Levack, and Thompson Manitoba. He was an avid golfer and curler. More recently he loved to watch baseball, an interest he shared with his good friend Dorothy. In retirement, he was a member of Golden K Kiwanis, the Memorial Society of Kitchener-Waterloo, a volunteer driver for seniors, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 25 years.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor at St. Mary's Hospital for their care of Roy.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
