Just came across the obituary for Dr A Margaret Evans. I had the pleasure of being taught by Dr. Evans for one American history and two Canadian history courses. I found her to be fair, motivating, and able to bring out the best in senior undergraduate students. She modelled good teaching and for that I am thankful as I went on to have a 30 yr teaching career. My sincere condolences.

I want to send my very belated condolences to the family. I am a University of Guelph graduate, class of 1970. I took a History major and was privileged to have taken courses from Dr. Evans, American and Ontario history. She was the quintessential lady and the best professor I ever had in the Department of History at that time. Kind, engaging and encouraging in all of her interactions with her students. I cherish my time at Guelph and will hold fast to my wonderful memories of her for the rest of my days. Ronald Henry, BA (Hons) LLB,Acton Ontario.

Margaret L. Evans
I know this is a very late condolence, but since I lost my mom on Dec.20, 2016 I have been doing some soul searching and found this obituary when browsing the U of G website. I admired your mother tremendously when we were in the graduate program at Guelph and as a close friend at the time I remember a positive and enriching experience. I hope you and yours are doing well and will never forget the years at the U of G.

so sorry to hear of Margaret's passing. Had no idea until the Christmas card I sent her was returned today. She had asked me to try and visit again soon at the nursing home. I was flower girl at her wedding many long years ago. Our family was all so proud of her achievements, especially my father, John McFarlane.

Prof. Margaret Evans taught me history at Waterloo College in the 1950s. I was in the Honours History programme, and I believe she taught me two courses, both in British History. I recall her teaching & classes with much pleasure, I went on to become a high school history teacher. I was able to travel to Britain & the continent and the love for history which she & others inspired enriched my trips. I was able to share this with her at WLU Alumni Homecomings in recent years.

Please accept our sympathy on the passing of such a great and accomplished lady. Her work in the Thyroid Association inspired others to contribute, and she always was warm and encouraging of the others she met along the way.
