Clara Wagner

Obituary of Clara Wagner

In her 93rd year, of Kitchener, Ontario. It is with sadness we bid farewell to our much-loved mother, mother-in-law and grandmother on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Chartwell Westmount Retirement Residence, Kitchener, Ontario. Born in rural Linwood, Ontario to Jacob (Ollie) and Mary Koebel, April 9, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 52 years, Jerome Simon Wagner (1914-1994); granddaughter, Valerie (Wagner) Golub, brothers and sisters-in-law Oliver Jr. (June), John (Betty), Manfred (June) Koebel and brothers-in-law Clarence Gies and Pat Karley; friend and companion Arnold Schnarr. She is survived by her sister Margaret Karley and brother and sister-in-law Frank Koebel (Marie). Affectionately missed by her children and their spouses: Frances Kraemer (Richard), Len Wagner (Maria), Joan Wagner - Hobb (Gord) and Dianne Moser (Wayne); her grandchildren and their spouses: Joanne Hickox (Bryan), Paul Kraemer (Lisa), Jim Kraemer (Sherry), Rosemary Brodt (Kevin), Len Jr. Wagner (Shelly), Wayne Wagner (Patti), Maureen Wagner, Vicki DeLeye (Greg), Matthew Zettel (Nichole), Jeff Moser (Melanie), and John Golub. Great-Grandchildren: Chad (Megan) and Michael Hickox, Mitchel, Rodney, Wesley and Nicholas Kraemer; Dylan, Tyler and Shea Kraemer; Jessica, Colin and Ryan Brodt; Daulton and Brittany Wagner; Cole, Brock and Derek Wagner; Natasha Bolender; Nicholas and Alexandria Golub; Spencer and Emma DeLeye; Owen and Nathan Zettel; Hunter and Jackson Moser; great-great grandson: Archer Hickox. Love of family and friends sustained her. Good food, playing cards and a fun story to be told were her sources of pleasure and entertainment. In her early years, she could be found partnering with our Dad in their Barbershop Convection business. A modest Waterloo country cook, she could master wonders with the simplest ingredients. She was a member of the St. Agatha Catholic Women's League (69 years in 2015) and the St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church. While a home body she could be found to listen attentively to the world travels of her children and their children. Our family wishes to sincerely thank everyone at the Sunshine Centre, Waterloo and Chartwell Westmount, Kitchener, for their years of kind and compassionate care. Special regard for the 3rd floor Palliative Care team at Chartwell Westmount. Visitors will be received by our family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. South, Waterloo, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, in the village of St. Agatha, 1839 Notre Dame Dr. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 am. Reception will immediately follow at Kennedy's Restaurant. As expressions of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary's General Hospital Foundation or the Waterloo Region Catholic Schools Foundation would be appreciated by our family and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
