Marjorie Campbell

Obituary of Marjorie Campbell

Marjorie passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015. She was the beloved wife of her late husband Howard for almost 64 years and was the youngest daughter of James and Maude Lotan of Appin, Ontario. Loving mother of Grant and his wife Wendy of Kitchener, Donald and his wife Susan of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Stewart and his wife Sandra of Cambridge. Cherished grandmother of Stephen (Dana) of Kitchener, Scott (Danusia) of Ottawa, Katie (Matt) of Bloomfield Hills, Andrew (Katie) of Washington DC, Jessica of Cobourg and Christopher of Vancouver and special great-grandmother of Evan, Ryan, Connor, Gareth, Elizabeth and Alexandra. Predeceased by her parents and her sisters Jeannette (Waddell) and Gertrude (Norsworthy), and brother Harold. Marjorie grew up in Appin, Ontario and later graduated as a Registered Nurse at Victoria Hospital (London) in 1943. She and Howard married in 1943 in Calgary and started their family of three boys. Marjorie lived life to its fullest and took great pride in her many many friends. She enjoyed people and people loved her. She has left a special mark on this earth and leaves all who have known her with fond memories, an incredible role model and unquestioned friendship. Marjorie (and Howard) found a great sense of joy as charter members of Parkminster United Church and participated in its leadership and growth from the early 1960's until recently. They made their home(s) in Kitchener, Toronto, London and Orillia and Marjorie blessed each and every location with her usual positive outlook. She loved to play bridge and scrabble, which she did so masterfully; volunteered her time for worthy causes, including the Cancer Society, Grand River Hospital, Children's Aid, and the Red Cross; and welcomed Rotary exchange students from around the world into their home. Marjorie will be missed by multiple generations and we know that she will continue to live on in the hearts of many for years to come. Our sincere thanks to the very caring staff at Stirling Heights in Cambridge and Winston Park in Kitchener, who clearly went above and beyond to make Marjorie's stay a wonderful home away from home. Respecting Marjorie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Parkminster United Church, 275 Erb Street East, Waterloo on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. with an hour of family visitation prior to the service and a light lunch in the Church Hall to follow.
