Obituary of Lisa Rae
MScN, Family Nurse Practitioner
On June 3, 1968, Ronald and Barbara Dietrich (nee Strome) along with big sister Deanna welcomed Lisa Anne into this world and then on June 23, 2015, Ron sent a sign by roiling the skies and summoned his youngest daughter to heaven after a short but intense battle with cancer. And so, surrounded by loving husband Derek, devoted daughters Mackenzie Grace and Jessica Rose, along with her adoring mom Barbara, dedicated sister Deanna Richardson, nephew Graham and niece Taylor, Lisa left this world in peace knowing she was deeply loved and that her presence would be with us forever.
Lisa's positive influence and capacity for love will be sorely missed by those who were with her when she left and all who knew and loved her, including Gramma Mary Strome, Ken and Norah Rae, Melanie and Bill Lovering and their children Jack and Sarah, Helen and Karl Reichert, and Taylor and Graham's dad Jim Stan. She may be missed most by her barnyard of fuzzy and scaly four-footed children- Sippy, Jackie, Winston, Consuelo, Paco and George.
While she always knew motherhood was her greatest achievement, Lisa was also a busy and devoted Rotarian (Waterloo Club). She strived for constant professional achievement, securing her BScN and this June, her Master's Degree of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner, all while working and raising her family. Her career-long mentorship of new nurses earned her numerous accolades and awards. Her loving care of others will be remembered fondly by many grateful patients and colleagues.
She loved a quiet life making her home her cottage, puttering in her garden where she would design stunning displays, never hesitating to tweak or adjust to achieve aesthetic perfection. She was an avid reader of fiction, and fit these pursuits in all while raising a family, meeting her professional commitments or pursuing her academic interests. She loved the repertory cinema and enjoyed the complex flavours of all sorts of single malt scotches and exotic food but was equally content to decompress with the occasional episode of pablum tv and a slow cooker of stew.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday June 27, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, well-wishers are invited to honour her memory with a donation to the KW Humane Society at https://kwhumane.thankyou4caring.org/kwhs-every-animal-deserves-a-chance or to Rotary Club of Waterloo at www.rotarywaterloo.ca. or may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
