Obituary of Paul Reda
Peacefully at Innisfree House in Kitchener in his 90th year on Thursday, October 8, 2015, after a valiant struggle with cancer and other illnesses.
Beloved husband of Rosina (2010) nee Elst with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Paul Reda was born on January 19, 1926 in Groß-Rosen, East Prussia, the third son and fifth of 15 children of Jakob and Martha Reda nee Kempa. He came to Canada with his family in 1956 and in 1967 founded Paul Reda Iron Work in Kitchener. He was involved in the business until shortly before his passing.
Paul leaves to mourn his children, Dieter in Hamilton, Gudrun "Linda" in London, and Norbert (Janine) in Kitchener. He was the loving Opa of two grandchildren: Eric and Elizabeth Reda in Kitchener. Also survived by brothers Herbert and Wilhelm Reda, and sister Herta Reda, all in Germany.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Martin, Gerhard, Erich, Siegfried, and sisters Martha, Ruth, Traudl, Hildegard, Friedhilde and Hedwig, all in Germany and one other infant brother.
The family will receive friends who wish to visit at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, October 12 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Benton Street Baptist Church, 90 Benton Street, Kitchener on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 12 noon with Rev. James Reese and Rev. Dieter Reda officiating. Interment at Woodland Cemetery will be followed by fellowship in the Reese Room at Benton St. Baptist Church.
