My family were members of Knox Church in Brantford and to me Wally Allum was always the minister long after he had moved to Renfrew and Dundas. I was baptised by Wally and he and the entire Allum family were always very important to my family. In particular, I remember vacationing with the Allum family at Golden Lake around 1967. Wally enjoyed a good argument and as an opinionated teenager I was easy prey. We were discussing world politics and he was of course, getting the best of me but I will always remember that he treated me like an adult which mattered a lot at the time and that he took a position that in my narrow view I did not expect from him. I still remember being so impressed that a man with strong views could be so open minded and flexible in his thinking and I learned from that. I was lucky to see him again a few years at a closing ceremony for Knox Brantford and had a good chat. I am happy that I had that chance. Rest in peace, Wally. You deserve God's peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of such a dear man of God, your Dad. My family attended Knox in the 60's/70's. Your Dad performed marriages for five of the six girls in our family and my mother's funeral. Our family was from Ottawa as well. Your Dad lived a long, fruitful life, and had an impact on my journey to faith. I'm sure you have many wonderful memories. May God strengthen and comfort you in your sad times, and may your sweet memories bring warm thoughts to your hearts.

Please accept my sincere condolences. Walter was an amazing man and friend. He loved the unlovable, gently guided those with no direction, and showed compassion and kindness where it was needed most. I will always cherish my memories of Helen and Walter. I consider myself very blessed to have known them. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Rev Allum's passing for he was one of the most influential persons in my life. As a young teenager I joined the Young People's Society in Knox Church and came under his guidance ... Not that I was an easy person to guide, but slowly but surely his influence rubbed off on me and set me on a path that I know he would be proud. Thank you dear man for all you have done and given and rest in the confidence that you could not have done more nor followed a higher calling.

Nancy, Rick and family...my deepest sympathy. Rev Allum was a wonderfuly person - I always enjoyed his lively, but informed, commentary on the world around us. Mr Gordon, Mr Tester, 2nd Dundas Cubs on Friday night and, of course, Rev Allum's booming sermons are all fondly remembered.
