Obituary of Earl Schaeffer
Earl Jacob Schaeffer of Kitchener, age 77 beloved husband of 55 years to Shirley Schaeffer passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 23, 2015. Proud father to loving children Bill (Fern), Glenn (Sandra), Brenda Nelson, Gail Eggleston (Terry), Donna (stillborn). Grandfather to Nathanael, Christina (Chris), Jessica, Joshua, Jeffrey, Alicia, Travis, Kyle, Brittany, Mark and Melissa along with three great grandchildren.
Survived by his four brothers and four sisters. Mae (Joe), Carol, Eileen (John), Sharon (David), Keith (Kathy), Ross (Donna), Neil (Gwen), Paul (Kathy). Survived by sister-in-law Sandra Albrecht. Predeceased by his parents Jacob and Ella Schaeffer, in laws Elie and Emma Albrecht, Rev Earl Albrecht & Duncan Malcolm.
Earl was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He was a Lay Minister for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing bells. He was president of the Kitchener Zone Lutheran Laymen's League, a past board member of Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada, and chairman of Redeemer's Mission Board.
He enjoyed cruising in his red 1965 Ford Galaxie convertible and spending time with his family. He worked for Arrow shirts and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Earl with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St. W., Waterloo on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joel Kuhl officiating. Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau for family and friends who wish to attend following a luncheon reception.
