Susan Hall and Robert Brix posted a condolence

Dear Mrs. Ballantyne,
Please accept my late condolences in the passing of your husband. I was speaking so fondly of him today with Dr. OBrien. He was one of the doctors that took over your husband's practice.
He was my family's doctor for over 15 years and treated both of us with such loving respect, compassion and integrity.
We have such fond memories of him. Take Care and God Bless You and your family.
In good health,
Susan Hall and my brother Robert Brix.

Dear Maggie, Pat and family,
Words feel inadequate at this time, but please know that Dave and I are holding your family in our thoughts and prayers. We remember fondly when Pat and Bob stopped by the cottage one summer. It's hard to say who had the most wonderful things to say about Maggie! When we think of a loving family, we think of the Ballantyne's. May you find comfort and peace from the land, the water and your friends.

Very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I went to high school with him and he was always such a gentleman and fun. He and Tom Melnick were good buddies and for our wedding in Aug. 1965 they gave us a set of pink sheets which we used for a long time. Condolences to all his family.

My deepest sympathies to the Ballantyne family. I know all the memories will be of great comfort. I knew your family as a neighbour and teenager who came to babysit Heather and Maggie, who were friends with my little sister Sarah. Often when Bob would walk me home the two blocks after babysitting, he would ask me about my interests in school, what I wanted to study after high school, and about my family. All these years later, I remember the warmth surrounding your family, and I remember the genuine neighbourly friendship of the Ballantynes. I wish you the comfort and love of family and friends at this difficult time. And I know that Bob's love will be with you always.

Dr. Ballantyne was my doctor when I was a young, pregnant high school student. He was so compassionate and understanding. And he delivered our son, David, with my new husband and the father of our baby at my side at St Marys- when dads were allowed into the delivery room. He was also the one to confirm my pregnancy five years later after my husband completed his studies at the University of Guelph. I will forever be grateful for his non-judgemental attitude and kindness...forty-four years ago.

Bob Ballantyne was a kind and humble gentleman, an outstanding family physician, and the star of my Vertebrate Zoology class way back in the sixties. Knowing him was an honour and a privilege. To the family that meant so much to him, I offer my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.

For close to 40 years our family was blessed to have the best family physician anyone could desire and we bragged about Dr. Ballantyne whenever we got the chance. He delivered our four children, guided us through childhood illnesses & our own health issues, always with gentle wisdom, compassion and genuine concern. His medical skills were excellent and his people skills even better.
When he retired, long after his date of choice due to his search for a replacement to look after his many patients, we felt a tremendous sense of loss, knowing he was irreplaceable so we can only imagine the size of the hole his death will leave in your lives.
His passing is mourned by thousands of former patients and I hope it brings some small degree of consolation to you to know how much he was loved. He was born to be a doctor and he was a gift to all of us, treasured beyond words.
Tributes will pour in but none can really do him justice. May they comfort you and may his spirit remain with all of you, bringing you the peace he gave to so many.
The Meagher family

Bob was a one-of-a-kind beautiful person! He and I were classmates in medical school where we worked as close student partners for four years. His warm friendship, his wonderful sense of humour, his candor, his excellent clinical skills, his willingness to always be there for me during some tough times all endeared Bob to me. My wife, Lisa, and I were delighted to be able to stay connected to Bob and his wife, Pat, for many years after our graduation. Bob's great reputation as a talented and expert medical practitioner was very known to all who knew him, patients and colleagues alike.
Bob, we will miss you so, so much! We are truly grateful to have known you....Thank you...thank you for the terrific memories!!
Love,
Bob and Lisa Snihura
