I received this notice via my sister Jane Beverly yesterday - June 12th and was very sad to hear of Uncle George''s death. I have many fond memories of him and Auntie Idella at the farm when I was a child. I am sorry for your loss.
Douglas and Elsie Sim were my parents and they too have died.

I was saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Sim whom I've known for over 40 years. He was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed. I first met him when I was a Brownie Leader and took my Brownie Pack to the Rembrance Day Service at the Waterloo Cenotaph when it was on Erb Street. Rev. Sim came over after the service and said how happy and proud he was to see the Brownies. I continued to take my Brownies to the service each year until the school systems decided that Rembrance Day would no longer be a designated holiday. Through the years I would see George and Idella at the annual Rembrance Day Service as well as at other events. The last time I saw him was at his 90th Birthday Party.
I send my deepest condolences to the family. May he rest in peace and rise to Glory.

What a mish-mash of emotions...... emotions that seem difficult to articulate with words. I will give it a try, but commit moreso to relay my heart throbs to sighs of prayer and trust that the Holy Spirit will do a much better job at conveying my love to all of you.
My heart aches for you -the family, as you say goodbye to Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, etc. How precious are the memories of every moment with him. Such a gentle, loving man of God - a man after God's own heart! And yet, at the same time I just want to "hoot" and "hollar" exclamations of joy and praise as I know Rev.Sim has gone home to be face to face with His Lord and Savior :) Oh my, such elation as I think on him reunited with Mrs.Sim and all those who went on ahead of him. They are having some kinda party!!!
I will forever hold dear the beloved memories of Rev.Sim. growing up at Calvary he was my prime reference of "Jesus with skin on". That unconditional love could be sourced by none other than the Almighty God. His messages brimming with passion and stories that I could relate to and be challenged by. His heart exposed, as he would pray for us, and with us. The sincerity of joy he shared as he welcomed us week after week, and gathered us children with him on the platform to tell us a story before dismissing us downstairs for junior church gives me encouragement even now to love others more. How tenderly he would hold those little ones to pray for them in dedication to the Lord...I don't remember it, but I know he did the same for me back in 1972. I know that he took every opportunity to bless us even as we grew up and moved away. I remain thankful to the Lord for the privilege of being one of Rev.Sim's little sheep divinely placed in his care. Praise the LORD for this faithful fisher of men!
May the Lord of Comfort make His face to shine upon each one of you and surround you in His love to fill every crevice of your grieving hearts.
With ALL my love,
kim

I don't think that we have met any of you as George's family, but we have the same EUB roots as George. I highly appreciated conversing with him, as he seemed to be a "walking history book" of many things, especially church related matters. We have great memories. I won't be able to attend the funeral as I will unfortunately be out of town, but our prayers are with you all.
God Bless
