This award fund has been established by the family and friends of Jackie Mattson. Jackie and her husband Joe had seven children ranging in ages from 10 to 20 when Joe tragically died of a heart attack. Jackie, who had up until that time loved staying at home with her children, had to go to work to support her family. She regretted deeply that she was unable to further her own education, but was proud to have been able to provide the support needed to help her 7 children fulfill her dream. This award is intended to lessen the financial burden by supporting those in similar circumstances and opening up a world of education for another single mother.
