Katherine Goodyear

Obituary of Katherine Goodyear

Passed away peacefully 3 days after her 37th birthday on January 29, 2016 while surrounded by her closest family, kept warm by the quilt she made for her son, holding his birthday present to her, and listening to her favorite music and stories of great times. Katie fought cancer with grace, strength, and courage. The two greatest loves of her life, her husband, Ryan Goodyear, and their four year old son, Hunter Patrick Goodyear, will remember her as a soulmate and loving mother who will always love them to the moon and back many, many, many times. She will forever be remembered for her unconditional love and wicked sense of humour by her twin sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Leo Tatsis, her brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Loralee MacInnis, her mother and late father, Beverley (MacDonald) and Russell MacInnis, her in-laws, Rick and Claudia Goodyear, and her sister-in-law, Shannon Goodyear. Her nieces and nephews, Norah and Isaac Tatsis, Alyssa and Markus MacInnis, and Hayden and Aspen Chaney, will remember her as their energetic, adventurous, and adoring aunt who loved to play games, make them laugh, and give them hugs. Katie was a lifelong learner who had degrees from Queen's University (B.Sc. Comp. Eng. & B. Ed) and the University of Waterloo (B.A). She also had a passion for travel and toured N.A, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Caribbean and married Ryan on the Tahitian island of Moorea. She had many varied careers including Computer Engineer, high school French and Math Teacher, and even an Au Pair in Switzerland. She could do anything she put her mind to and lived life to the fullest. She had an infectious smile, positive spirit, and the ability to celebrate what made each individual special and because of this she had many great friends around the world. Condolences to her family may be left at www.erbgood.com. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hunter's education fund at https://www.gofundme.com/rgd9rxxg. Katie did not want a service and instead wanted her friends and family to celebrate in their own way. "Celebrate we will. Because life is short but sweet for certain." - Dave Matthews Band
