I have many happy memories of time spent at the Slenos' house as a child. Bob's generous, larger-than-life presence is prominent in all of them, but two in particular stand out in my mind. The first relates to a gift. Bob worked for Air Canada at the time, and the family room in the Slenos' basement was filled with models of Air Canada planes, but by far the most impressive was the foot-long Air Canada 747. I had never seen anything like it, I used to stare in awe at it every time I was over.....and I fondly remember the day when Bob, out of the blue, offered it to me to take home for myself. I kept it, from my parents' house to my university apartment to my own home, in and out of boxes, for more than 30 years as a symbol of a favourite memory. The second relates to the night when my mother, driving the family car home on icy back roads, slid off the road and into a telephone pole. The Slenos were more than willing to come pick up the rest of my family, drive us to the scene of the accident, and drive us back......not to our home but to theirs, where "Dr. Bob" took charge of restoring my mother's shaken nerves using an unorthodox treatment that involved repeatedly pouring her strong drinks. Despite his acknowledged lack of medical training the treatment proved effective, and once the patient had been returned to appropriate health Dr. Bob drove us all back home.

Arlene, Cathy & Darryl, Jim & Anita, Edna, and Joyce. You are in my prayers as always. I share your loss of husband, father and son, as I too have lost a good friend and neighbour. I will always remember Bob's smile, sense of humour and cheery "hello". May you find peace as time passes.

My deepest condolences to Arlene and the family. Having had the privilege of providing dental care to Bob and his family for many years, I will miss that bright spot I could look forward to whenever I saw Bob's name on the day sheet. Always a smile and a joke, even in the later stages of his declining health. A truly nice guy.

To Arlene Sleno & Family: Please accept my sympathy at this time. I was sorry to read of Bob's passing. I enjoyed working with Bob several years ago with Air Canada in the London District Office. He was my "first boss" and taught me well. I will never forget his "clear dictation". It was a pleasure knowing him. God be with you and your family at this time and please accept my prayers.
