Obituary of Norma Martin

Martin, Norma Mae (nee Bauman) Born near New Jerusalem in Woolwich Township on May 19, 1939. She died peacefully in her sleep at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on February 6, 2011 with her loving husband by her side. Norma is deeply mourned by her family; her husband of almost 50 years, Laverne, her children Fred and Wanda Wagler-Martin, Bonnie and Dan Martin Gibson, Buetta and Curt Warkentin, and grandchildren Leah and Emily Martin and Marla and Scott Warkentin. She will be greatly missed by her brother and sister-in-law Maurice and Verna Bauman. Lovingly remembered by Laverne's siblings and spouses; Reta and Orvie Martin, Alice and Glenn Buschert, Grace Schweitzer, Barb and Orrie Gingrich, Ken and Mary Martin, Ernie and Edith Martin, Murray and Ruth Martin, David and Ruth Martin, Don and Julie Martin, and Elaine and Bill Pearce. Many nieces and nephews will also miss Norma. Predeceased by parents Lydia Ann and Absolom Bauman, parents-in-law Emmanuel and Leah Martin, brother Raymond Bauman and his wife Edna, brother-in-law Erle Schweitzer and a stillborn daughter. Norma faced the challenges of a stroke and cancer with courage and humour, while remaining actively engaged in the lives of friends and family. Friends are invited to share their memories of Norma with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 (today) from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Interment will take place on Thursday, February 10, at Elmira Mennonite Church Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., all are welcome to attend. A memorial service will follow at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church, 1310 King Street, St. Jacobs at 3 p.m., followed by a reception. Condolences for the family and because of her avid interest in genealogy, Mennonite heritage, and people's well-being donations to Shalom Counselling Services or Mennonite Archives of Ontario at Conrad Grebel University College may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
