I remember Wally standing in the basement by his tool cabinet. It's heavy green door would swing open to display tools lined up in there three or four deep. Compared to our family tool basket which contained a tack hammer, a brace and bit, and a linoleum knife, it was a world of wonders. And these were not just for show. In the next room plywood was being shaped into a hydroplane! I remember many trips to launch and race this boat and it's several successors. Wally was the pit man and his patience was often on display on Saturday morning as he leaned over a forty gallon drum in the backyard adjusting a shaved cotter pin or some such on his Class B motor in preparation for a Sunday race. People he knew hold a myriad of these little Wally moments dear. We know his spirit will live on in his friends and family. May you be comforted in your loss, Teresa
