Obituary of John Ahrens
It is with great sadness that the family of John Ahrens announces his sudden passing on Monday May 30, 2011, 62 years of age.
Beloved husband of Geraldine for 32 years; loving father of Christina and her husband Ian Olley and Michael and his wife Ashley. Cherished grandfather of Peyton, Brooklynn and Vanessa and a great couch buddy Percy.
Loved son of Betty Ahrens and her friend Arley Morran. Dear brother of Mary Lou Pfeffer, Debbie and her husband Dale Schnurr and Janice and her husband Luc Jacobs. Cherished son-in-law of Anne Weiss and brother-in-law of John Weiss, Wendy Weiss and Wayne Pfeffer. Also will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father Louis Ahrens, father-in-law John Weiss Sr. and brother-in-law Corry Weiss.
John was a long time employee of W. Thur & Sons Ltd. and Haffner Transport. He was an avid baseball player with his son Michael, a teammate and friend to many playing with the Flyers, for 26 years. John and Geraldine were also avid canvassers for the Heart & Stroke Foundation for many years.
Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday June 1, 2011 7-9 p.m and Thursday June 2, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday June 3, 2011 at 11 am. Interment to follow in Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. A reception will follow the interment in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
