Obituary of Angela McDowell

McDowell (Ruth), Angela Angela passed away lovingly surrounded by her family on June 29th, 2011 at the age of 57. Angela was born on June 16th, 1954 to Ernie and Thelma (Dolly) Ruth in Cambridge, Ontario. She was the first daughter and third oldest of 6 children. As a child Angela was passionate, caring and nurturing. It was these same characteristics which later in life would be reflected in her role as a wonderful mother and friend to her only daughter Christina McDowell, and further still into her career as a PSW at Sunnyside Home in Kitchener. It was her strength, genuine concern and care for others that brought many so much comfort. Angela always had a smile, a gentle touch and twinkle in her eye, she had an exceptional spirit. Angela had a love for the outdoors, a kinship with nature and all living things, she loved nothing more than a walk in the woods. Angela is survived by her daughter Christina McDowell, son-in-law Dane McDowell, and her treasured grandchildren Ethan and Neve McDowell. Her Mother Thelma (Dolly) Ruth; Sisters, Therese (Peter) Klotz, Trish Ruth, Shelley (Tom) Hunt; and brother Norbert Ruth - all of Cambridge, many beloved nieces and nephews, and special dear friend Mike Wood of Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her cherished father, Ernie Ruth, and her brother, Larry Ruth. Following Angela's personal wishes cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Angela with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at St. Clement's Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge at 10 a.m. At a private celebration of her life, Angela's family will later scatter her ashes so that she can be reunited with nature and be forever free.
