Dear Irene; Robert&Kari; Stephen&Kellie; Andrew&Heidi; & Kathy: I just found out tonight Thurs Aug 4/11 about Katie's passing! I was sooo saddened that I never got news earlier, I would have been at her funeral, but I do want to leave some good memories of Katie with you: I've been a Companion for Katie since 2006 Katie lived: June 20/06-Trinity Village Retirement Home-Kitchener Ont June 1/07-Jan 24/08-Westmount Nursing home-Kit June 26/07-Aug 9/07-at Freeport Hospital-Kit Jan 24/08-July 30/11-at Pine Haven Nursing Home-Waterloo, Ont She spoke to me often of people she loved & cared about: *father:Fador Schramko-he raised honey bees *mother:Paraska-she would get Katie to read the bible to her *brother:Wasilie "Bill" she missed him lots *Husband: Alex-worked at Eatons in T.O.as a Stationary Engineer *Daughter: Irene-Often she would get me to read aloud your cards to her.She'd go thru photo albums & tell me stories of the 3 of you at home, great memories! *Pastor Johnston-born in Russia-he said:"There's no better/worse Christian, God created all" *Her 3 school girlfriends:Paraska(Passha); Ordarka(Dasha)&Pelesya *Her Orthadox church *Helena Kruberg-Katie lived w/in T.O on Westminister st *Hazika-Landlord in TO *Pastor Wolcoveech in Germany& his daughters:Dena &Valentia(Violet) *the many people from Waterloo Mennonite Brethern church& Pastor Paul Katie was a wonderful 'grandma' figure! An Awesome Christian& a great listener Thankyou soooo much for Allowing me to learn from her.She will always be loved & remembered by me!! Blessings, Ellamae (Cressman) Hawkins

I spoke with Robert's Gramma Katie 1 time it was soon after our marriage 10 years ago . She had that very distinctive Ukrainian accent and all she wanted to know is if I was a "Good Christian girl who loved the Lord " I was happy to tell her I was. I am sorry I never got a chance to meet her .

I didn't get to visit with my grandmother much, but I will always cherish the visits we had, and fondly remember her calling me up on my birthdays and singing "happy birthday" to me. She was always a godly influence in my life, and one of the great cloud of witnesses I was surrounded by for faith
