Gertrude has been a very dear friend to our family – going way back to 1962 when we moved to the KW area and first met at Benton Street Baptist Church. Indeed, our families were of kindred spirit in many ways, not only in Christian faith and commitment, but also sharing their love of country living, antiques, and renovating in the early years.
For over 50 years we were blessed as couples with a special bond of friendship. even though we moved out to Nova Scotia six years ago. Since then, though separated by thousands of miles, we managed to maintain a close relationship by telephone.
A few months ago our hearts were greatly saddened to hear that Bert had passed away, thus leaving Gertrude on her own. So now we also morn the loss of another dear and faithful friend, . They will not be forgotten, but we rejoice to know "Gert and Bert" are together once again.
They have left behind wonderful memories and tangible remembrances such as a lovely pine "memory box" which Bert crafted, and a cozy green "minnie quilt" sewn by Gertude. In our house it has come to be known as "Gert's nap quilt" under which we snuggle on most afternoons.......an extra special precious memory!
Our hearts go out to Mark and Jackie and all the family they have left behind, but know they too value the wonderful heritage of such wonderful parents.
How comforting it is to us to know that we will all meet again one day when we too are called to our heavenly home.
