Obituary of Werner Otto Packull
Prof. Werner O. Packull
Werner’s life journey began 76 years ago in East Prussia. That journey ended on Friday April 27th at The Village at University Gates Long Term Care in Waterloo.
He was the much loved husband and soulmate of 54 years to Karin, caring and devoted dad to Christine Packull-McCormick (Kevin) and Reiny Packull (Lisa), loved Opa to Sara and Nicholas Packull-McCormick and Aaron and Ben Packull. Werner leaves behind his brother Horst, and sister Edith Neumann (Herb), special Aunt Hilde Hirtle and many nieces, nephews and cousins to whom he was the “fun uncle”. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law Edit Fiebig (Paul) and Ute Gerbrandt.
Werner began his teaching career at University of Waterloo – Renison College and later Conrad Grebel University College. His passionate teaching of Reformation and Anabaptist studies inspired many of his students to take a “second look" at history.
He was much loved and cared for by the staff at University Gates on Downy Neighbourhood. He will be missed by his special caregiver Linda Stewart and his musical friend Jennie Wiebe.
