Obituary of Dominic Anthony Pollice
Dom passed away peacefully in his sleep at Lanark Heights Long Term Care in Kitchener, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the age of 95.
Dom loved sports, especially football (avid Tiger Cats fan) and baseball (avid Yankees fan) and played tennis, bowling, curling, and fastball. He played and coached fastball for many years including the championship teams J.M. Schneider 1968 and the 1984 KFL “A” division All-Terrain Drillers. He was an avid lifelong gardener and maker of pig tails. His family was extremely important to him and was very proud and supportive of each family member. He enjoyed many family vacations at Stanton House on Sparrow Lake. Dom began his career as a salesman at Fearman’s Meat Packers in Hamilton, and in 1958, moved to Waterloo and worked as a meat inspector with the federal government in the K-W area.
Devoted husband to Dorothy (nee Jackson) for 72 years, loving father of Patricia Anne Brown (Arnold Lawrence), Marianne Corradetti (Terry Bradley), Michael (predeceased in 2017) and his surviving wife Sandra Pollice, John Pollice (Lori), and Lisa Stecko (Michael Brodrecht). Loving Papa to Tara Brown (David Woods) and Tanya Brown Ross (Peter Ross), Gina Corradetti, John Corradetti (Cherisse), Sarah Grant (Michael), Jennifer Shantz (Brian), Ryan Pollice (Kaitlin), Courtney Pollice (Steve Kuntz), Jessica Pollice, Tara Gutscher (Kevin), Kris Brodrecht (Mallory Caudron) and great-grandpa of Charlotte, Olivia, Adeline, Hudson, Elliott, Brooke, Tyler, Landon, Lilly, Dominic, Michaela, Evelyn, Zachary, and Alex. Dear brother of Mary Pollice.
Predeceased by his parents Nicholas Pollice and Adelina Giuliano, sister Anna (Nina) Martin, brother Louis, and sister Veronica Pasternak.
Special thanks to the staff of Lanark Heights LTC and Grand River Hospital (Freeport), Kitchener who showed love and compassion to aid our father and family through this difficult period.
The Pollice family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Aleksander Mazur from St. Agnes RC Church in Waterloo officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Room. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Burlington will follow the reception.
