I extend my sincerest condolences to the LeRoy family on Bob's passing. Bob loomed large in my academic life, starting when I was a graduate student. I learned a lot from him. His contributions to molecular spectroscopy were profound, and his open access software made him perhaps one of the most famous spectroscopist in the world. Despite his health issues he was always energetic, enthusiastic, and engaged. He will be profoundly missed.
Oh Bobby, I am so happy you were in my life.
I think the essence of our relationship can be summed up in my visit to Waterloo this past March. You were so excited to meet Mark (my husband) and hear about all the science that I was doing in Oxford. You were thrilled to see the YouTube video I made about chemistry, but even more excited to stump us with a question about entropy.
You taught me to dream big, to be passionate, and to never stop questioning.
I will forever love you.

Dr. LeRoy was a true mentor. He saw your potential truly, gently teasing it out of you until you turned the light on yourself. My deepest sympathies. Jeff Sylvestre

RIP Robert J. Le Roy
No single person has been as influential to my undergrad career as Bob. He was my academic advisor for 5 years, my supervisor in an undergraduate NSERC, and organizer of the SCP, which I attended and volunteered at for several years.
I honestly thought he was invincible. He was full of energy, youth, and optimism. He was fun to work with and a great mentor. Bob, you were an inspiration to us all. You've made a massive impact on the world, and you'll be greatly missed.
