I remember Uncle David... would often drop by the house on Ballantyne Ave, his gorgeous long dark hair, the bracelet he always wore (looked like a silver nail), sitting on his motor bike (that lived in our garage after his accident) and imagining going over jumps like Evil Kenevil, that I thought he had cool taste in music.
I think it was New Years Eve 1981; my friend Holly and I babysat Jane and Jesse. When Aunt Margaret and Uncle David came home he handed me a cheque for a million $. So ya, he was a bit jokester too.

This is a poem that makes me think of David.
SWANS
I looked in my heart while the swans went over
And what did I see I had not see before?
Only a question less or a question more;
Nothing to match the flight of wild birds flying.
Tiresome heart, forever living and dying,
House without air, I leave you and lock your door.
Wild swans, come over the town, come over
The town again, trailing your legs and crying!
--Edna St. Vincent Millay, 1892-1950

David and I had many good times together at U of Waterloo. We lost touch, but I remember David as a good friend, a sometimes roommate and a curious, intelligent man. Condolences to David's extended family and all his friends, past and present.

David - - although our relationship in the recent past was infrequent, we'll always remember being your neighbour in Country Hills, your friend on the golf course, and your cousin forever.

David was a joy as a friend. David, Phil Bast and I had many good laughs together at U. of Waterloo. I am sad to see him go so young.

Lynda, Sharon, Wendy, Jane and Jesse,
I heard this sad news from Lorraine, after Linda was good enough to reach out to us. I was truly taken aback to hear of Dave's untimely passing. It seems like only months ago at Sharon and Doug's anniversary party that we were all sitting in the backyard exchanging family stories, including how hard he was on Grandpa's 1954 Ford in his "spirited" youth. He was certainly a character. I warmly remember Dave and Jane coming out to my parent's 60th wedding anniversary at the nursing home in Mississauga. That meant a lot to us. We never did get together though, for him to pick one of dad's paintings from my collection...
For Lorraine and I, our hearts go out to you. Our prayers are with you as you deal with his loss. If you're having a service that's open to the extended family, let us know. Either way, Dave is in our thoughts, as are you.
Take care,
Mark.
