Obituary of Michael James Fedy

Passed away unexpectedly, following a brief illness, on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the age of 59.

Mike is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Arlene Fedy, his beloved sisters Danielle and Jim Glasgow of Calgary, Cathy and Francois East of Montreal, Karen and Rob Wintonyk of Kitchener and his cherished nephews and nieces, Alex and Jonathan East and Rebecca and Isabella Wintonyk. He is also survived by his special aunt Carole as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Mike was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a kind, gentle soul who loved others. He took the time to get to know them and cheer them on in their endeavors. Mike successfully completed a number of University credits and was proud of one of his essays published in a scientific journal. He enjoyed his motorcycle, photography, volunteering at the Adult Recreation Centre, respected nature and animals, and he cherished the many great memories created at the family farm and family gatherings.  Mike will be truly missed especially by his family who did their best to support him all through his life. Like many who experience the effects of mental illness, Mike persevered with strength and courage. He was well loved and his memories will be held dear to those who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the late Dr. Tom Liu as well as Dr. Louise Vitou, Dr. John Hobson, Dr. Rao Surapaneni, the nurses and staff at Grand River Hospital and to Simon Farlow for his never-ending support and friendship to Mike.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Mike with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 305 Laurentian Drive, Kitchener on Saturday, January 19 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Larry Parent as Celebrant. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Cremation will take place and interment in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener will follow at a later date.
