Very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. We enjoyed many gatherings together as fellow heads of Modern Languages. He could always be counted on to have something sensible to say. Interested to learn that he was raised in Stratford where Suzanne and I now live.

Dear Anne,
It was with great sadness that I found out today, from former colleagues, of your loss in the death of your dear husband, Barry. I have fond memories of Barry from the Languages Heads Association, and afterwards when you and Barry invited us to your beautiful B&B in Conestogo. I remember especially, Barry's love of flowers. His garden was spectacular.
Please accept my sincere condolences in your loss.
Sincerely,
Yolande Greenstein

Dear Anne
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I was a PHS student '62-'67 and thoroughly enjoyed my French classes with Barry - he was a delightful teacher with a great sense of humour.
I enrolled in teacher's college with the hope of teaching French because of my French classes at PHS - however sadly that did not materialize.
Find comfort in your memories and know that others share in your sadness.

Please accept my condolences and sympathy. My father, William Black (also a teacher at PHS) sent me the obituary for Mr. Noice and it brought back many good memories of his German and French classes. He and Mrs. Noice, from whom I also took (...or perhaps struggled with) French, were wonderful teachers. I particularly recall Mr. Noice sharing their travel stories, which so expanded our horizons. I have many fond memories of his classes, but two in particular stand out. The first was studying Erich Kastner’s “Emil und die Detektiv” in Fractur script....a wonderful story and fascinating to read in that script (which stood me in good stead when I took a calligraphy class in university), the second was studying a French novel (sadly the title escapes me) of a woman in Morocco who questioned the traditional role of women and sought her independence through education and literacy. Again, please accept my condolences. Sincerely, Nancy E. Black

Dear Anne:
My deepest sympathy to you in the passing away of Barry. I enjoyed interacting with Barry and thought he was a very kind, hard working, respectful, supportive individual and teacher with a wonderful sense of humour. He had a great talent with his artistic abilities. I still enjoy the water colour of flowers that Barry painted many years ago that hangs in my home.
May your fondest memories of Barry bring you much comfort, and may the love and peace of the Lord be with you during this sorrowful time.
Sincerely,
Barb Harvey

My condolences to Anne and to Barry’s family! Barry was a man of great integrity whom I greatly respected and I am happy to say he was one of my professional colleagues. Unfortunately I am presently in Arizona and will be unable to personally pay my respects.

I graduated from PHS in 1990 and had both Barry and Anne Noice as French teachers. Easily my favourite and best subject thanks to competent, devoted teachers. Mr. Noice was a very nice man and a patient, calm teacher. This in an era where most teachers wore suits; Mr. Noice was probably the best dressed, as was his wife.
Thank you for helping to instill a love of the French language; it was an easy decision to enroll my daughter in French Immersion where she is currently a grade 10 student here in London, ON.
My sincere condolences.

I graduated from PHS in 1976.
I very much enjoyed being taught French by the two of you. Barry had a delightful, quiet sense of humour.
Thank you to both of you for instilling in me a life-long love of language.
