I feel Vincent's passing personally. Knowing him from 1957 means that he has been a part of my life from my mid-teens. He was an admired member of the Excelsior School community, serving as Deputy Head Boy. He was known for his Christian life style, partly through his role in the Student Christian Movement. An all-rounder on the XLCR campus he participated in student athletics. He was one of the earlier migrants to Canada where he made a mark as an educator and participant in the life of his community. Maintaining contact with people from his school days was a marker in his life. At the XLCR lunch in December 2018, I was privileged to share a table with Vincent where he caught up with a long lost friend from his school days. Vincent was a remarkable person and I feel special for him to have been involved in my life.

On behalf of the Toronto branch of the UWI Alumni Association, I offer condolences to Claudette, Gerry, Cecile and the grandchildren on the passing of Vincent. Vincent attended the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies from 1961 to 1964 graduating with Bachelor of Arts. While on campus he was a constant supporter of the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. He maintained contact with his alma mater when he migrated to Canada. He is fondly remembered for his sermon in Toronto celebrating the 60th anniversary of the University. Rest in peace.

Dear Mrs. Smith and family:
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Vincent; beloved father, grandfather, teacher, minister and friend. When I was living in Waterloo, Vincent was always there to support us as young people during Black History month events and throughout the year. He was a positive presence in my life and greeted me with an enthusiastic hug whenever I was in town. I treasure the memories and hope you are comforted in knowing one day you will see him again. May God give you this comfort at this time.

Claudette and family, we want to express our sadness at the loss of Vincent. He was an incredible individual who never stopped teaching others and being an example to the community around him. This included living out his faith in a purposeful way through his care, and genuine love for others.
His energy and warmth, as well as his natural ability to make others feel a sense of belonging is something that we will remember him for. It has been our joy to have known him these years.

On behalf of my wife Sis. Green, and the rest of my family including Lyle, I do hereby offer our Condolences to Sis. Smith, her children, grandchildren and the rest of the family. We are deeply sorrowful, and mourn your loss with you.
Rev. Smith was such a dear friend to the family, he never missed a function that we invited him to if it is possible; whether it was to speak at a Senior's appreciation or to a birthday celebration he was there.
He was very popular among most of the members of the Evangelical Church of God in Cambridge, mostly because of his love and care for our children. I can certainly say; in his book, no child is ever left behind.
We all missed him dearly, but are assured that he is resting with the Lord. Though we mourn, we do not sorrow as those which have no hope. ! Cor. 4:14 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him".

Vincent and Claudette were the first people we met at WPA, and we've heard several people say the same. That's because they have always been so attentive to other people and making other people feel at home. We've truly enjoyed getting to know both of them on a deeper level in our small group over the last couple of years. Vincent will truly be missed. He has lived his life so well, and has been a blessing to so many people. We pray for Claudette now and the rest of the family that God will be with them during this very difficult time and that they will be able to have the peace of knowing that they will see their loved one again someday. Lifting all of you up in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you!

I want to offer my condolences to Mr. Smith's family. As a friend to my parents he would always tell me how he knew them long before I was born. He married my husband and I and made sure that we were ready for embarking on the journey of marriage prior to our ceremony. He and Mrs. Smith visited my home upon the news of my father's passing and sat with us as we reminisced. I am saddened by the news but know that there were many to welcome him home upon his arrival in heaven. Goodbye Mr. Smith...until we meet again.
