Evelyn Jean Lacey
Passed away peacefully on Saturday April 6, 2019 at The Village of University Gates, Waterloo at the age of 87.
Dedicated wife of the late Douglas Lacey for 64 years. Beloved mother of Susan Taylor (Gord) of Waterloo and Darryl Lacey (Karen) of Port Albert. Loving nana of Laura, Jon, Lindsay, Samantha, Kendra and Alexandra. Special great-nana of Hadley. Dear sister of Ann Frank and Audrey Good and sister-in-law of David and Herta Lacey. Auntie Ev will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Jean and Harold Kopas, brother-in-law James Lacey and sister-in-law Helen Lacey and brothers-in-law Harold Good and William Frank.
Evelyn worked at the Mutual Life Insurance Company and later as a secretary at the Farmer’s Mutual Insurance Company and at the University of Waterloo. She also volunteered at Parkwood Mennonite Home for 20 years where she was loved by many and where her people skills were clearly evident. Bowling and caring for her grandchildren were also a big part of her life. She enjoyed many bus trips with her husband and friends.
Many thanks to all of her friends and staff at Pinehaven Nursing Home and subsequently the Village of University Gates for their care and support over the past eight years, since her debilitating stroke.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Evelyn with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. St., Waterloo on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 10th from 10-10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
