Have you ever been with someone with whom you could sit in comfortable silence with?
Have you ever been with someone with whom conversation flowed as effortlessly as water down a hill?
Have you ever been with someone with whom you could compete with in any number of activities?
Have you ever been with someone with whom you could laugh so hard, you felt your stomach would burst?
Have you ever been with someone with whom you'd never in your life had a fight with?
Have you ever been with someone who put you at ease just by being there?
Have you ever been with someone who could relate to things you did as a kid because they were there doing them with you?
Have you ever been with someone that you love so much that the thought of them not in your life is inconceivable??
Because I have.
And I never told him.
His absence is a hole in my life that may never be filled.
He was not just my friend, he was my brother. And I continue to miss him.

31 years ago, April 1990, Andy, John and I went west for a vacation. (Here we are in Banff) This was before kids, before wives,... let's face it, before responsibility.
Andy was a magnet that drew others together. That's something I will always remember about him.

I am really going to miss our lunch dates. It was something I eagerly looked forward to. I'm very pleased that Eric has stepped in to fill his fathers shoes at the table. It's so easy to lose touch with people which is why it's more important than ever to stay connected. Andy understood that.

Mr. Beddoe was my 7th Grade music teacher at Queensmount Public School. He encouraged me to play percussion, even though I was the only female student interested. His encouragement sparked the skill I was unaware I had, and I am forever grateful for his steadfast love of teaching. He was one of my favourite teachers throughout my years as a student as he was so kind and patient, and I am deeply saddened by this sudden loss. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest peacefully, Mr. Beddoe!

I was very sorry to learn of Andy's death. I am also very sorry that I am unable to attend the funeral and commemorative services as I am currently out of the country.
Andy was a gem of a person. He was caring, fun loving, committed to serving others and getting better at his craft. He reinforced for me the importance of taking risks, humility and the significance of learning every day. Andy rarely seemed to take life too seriously while being very serious in his respect and thoughtfulness towards others.
Andy's legacy of selflessness, caring and dedication to doing the right things, well, lives on in those who reflect his example in whatever aspect of life they are engaged.
I mourn the passing of such a fine person who challenged the cynicism, indifference and negativity that sometimes threatens hope and the possibilities of life.
My sincere condolences go out to Andy's family and friends whose sadness I empathize with particularly because of the intensity of the love and happiness that Andy shared with others.
In addition to Andy's immediate family, I am also thinking of the colleagues with whom Andy worked very closely while in his professional learning role at the Education Center. People such as Carolyn, Kim, Kelly, Ken and others, who appreciated and shared so much of the energy, effort and commitment that Andy emanated are particularly in my thoughts at this sad time.

It is with a heavy heart that I send this message to the family. To Claire and Eric ~ your dad was so proud of you and it was always with joy that he would give me updates on your latest adventures and achievements. He took great pride in your accomplishments and always had a big smile on his face when talking about you.
I will remember his remarkable smile, deep heart felt laugh and love of his family and career. Let that be your anchor in the coming days and weeks ahead.
We are all touched by your dad's kind heart and wonderful spirit.

My heart goes out to the Beddoe family. Andy was a true gem. I meet Andy and Val many years ago when we all worked at Westheights PS. We reconnected when the Beddoe family moved down the street and even more when Andy made the move into administration. Andy loved to joke with his quick wit and vibrant smile. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and teasing him while I sat alongside him in meetings. He was also extremely proud of his family. He raved about Val and spoke glowing and proudly of Eric who finished culinary school and Claire who received an OPC scholarship and attends university in Ottawa. I will miss my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Andy was the VP at Wellesley PS when I worked with him as the school Speech-Language Pathologist. He was such a kind and warm person, he made me feel right at home in the school.
I remember him taking time in the kindergarten rooms to play and make connections with students.
It was a pleasure to work with Andy.
My condolences to the family. Rest in Peace, Andy.

My Cousin Andy was always such a joy and someone who I always admired and respected. He was always a lot of fun, very kind, generous and supportive. With all his creativity and zest for life, Andy created a family tree that I will always cherish along with all the wonderful childhood memories with Tom and Julia too. It was also wonderful to attend Andy’s wedding and to witness the strong bond of love between Andy and Valerie. Andy was also a wonderful host when we visited his beautiful family and met Eric and Claire.

Our most sincere condolences are offered to Andy's family. I first met Andy at "Principal School" where he distinguished himself as a respectful, kind, and humorous colleague in learning. I was delighted to reconnect with Andy when he came to Floradale Public School as Principal of my children's school. In his role there, Andy set himself apart from others as a warm, friendly, caring, and supportive leader who always responded effectively to any situation that arose at the school. He was a great listener who always had student success at the heart of his work. Our family will miss his optimism, sunny smile, and fine sense of humour. He will be deeply missed in the Floradale school community.

Andy was a true gentleman, a scholar, an eternal optimist, and a friend to so many. I was saddened that I wouldn’t see him daily when he moved on from our teaching staff at Margaret Avenue School, but I was truly heartbroken to learn that he has passed from this earth. Such a great man, with such a big heart. He was always authentic, sincere, and open-minded - qualities I much admired in him. But as others have said, my strongest memory of Andy is his clever sense of humour. Many times we laughed so hard together that we ended up in tears. I will try to remember those tears of laughter, and not the ones I’m experiencing today. Steph and I send our deepest condolences to Val, Eric, and Claire.

"Andy, lets buy guitars!"
That was all it took. We went and bought a couple of acoustic guitars from Long and McQuaid and the "Friday night Pizza and Guitar" sessions were born!! What a patient, kind and funny guitar teacher, friend and colleague to have. We laughed and laughed and even learned "Margaritaville." One thing I always loved about meeting other people who knew Andy was that, every single person you talk to about Andy felt as if "they" were his closest friend. What an amazing quality to have. Even though it is so cliche - Andy really could light up a room. The world is a little darker today without him. We will miss you Andy Beddoe, as you used to say...you certainly were "one of the good ones." Play on buddy....
