Obituary of Marlene Ann Zuch

Marlene passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Innisfree House Hospice.

Loving wife of Tim Zuch, dear step-mother of Cyd Black (Steve) and Cherri Sanderson (Paul).  Loving grandmother of Darcy Black, Jamie Black, Rose Sanderson and Jill Sanderson.  She will be missed by brothers Don Koebel, Ken Koebel (Mary), sister Yvonne Hoy and her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Norman and Pauline Koebel, sister-in-law Jacqueline Koebel and brother-in-law Neil Zuch.

Marlene graduated from St. Louis school in Waterloo and entered Mutual Life as a junior clerk.  Through hard work and taking night school and other courses, she advanced to positions of senior stenographer and senior secretary.  When she and Tim moved to Urbana Illinois, she worked for the Thomas Jefferson Insurance Company as Secretary and Assistant to the Director of Policy Services.  On their return to Waterloo, she rejoined Mutual Life and spent the last seven years of her career as the Legal Administrator responsible for the support functions of the Legal Department and management of the law library.  Marlene retired in 1991.  She loved time with her family, travel, reading and bridge.  In her many years living at Luther Village On The Park, she served on the Health Committee, provided produce for the Market Garden, and volunteered on Flu Shot Day, at the Atrium Suite coffee hour and at the afternoon coffee hour with the Sunshine Centre residents.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.  The family will receive friends during a reception which will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
