Herbie had many friends and I am proud to be among them . I have known Herb for 45 yrs . We had many a good laugh at both the Waterloo yards and the Regional Yards . When I worked at Div.1A Herb and Shirley's place in St Agatha was well protected . I called it Div.1Aa . I will miss him . I will miss calling out to the farm and Shirley telling me that he was " out in the barn " , a place that he loved and was happy in . I will miss pulling into the farm and seeing him on his tractor mower , another thing that he loved to do. I will miss helping him store the cars in the fall . I will miss having a ' cold one ' in his kitchen ( he always kept a couple in the fridge if he knew that I was coming ) . I will miss sitting in the sun room and just shooting the breeze I will miss the smirk on his face when he was being mischievous . I will miss his presence across the table at our Friday morning breakfasts . He was one of the founding fathers of that breakfast and rarely missed one in all of the many years that it has been going . His spot will always be reserved in his memory . I could go on and on .... I will miss him . Sleep well my friend .

Deepest sympathy to Shirley and family. I met Herb when I joined the Waterloo Police Dept. over 50 years ago and he was always considered one of the police family. Herb continued his friendship with many of us after regional government and was liked and respected by all who knew him. I know his loss will be felt by his many police and other friends.
