Obituary of Herb Weiler

WEILER, Herbert Hugh, age 82, died peacefully at Innisfree Hospice on June 22, 2019 after a brief illness.

Survived by his wife, Shirley (Dotzert), sons Greg (Soon-boon) and Jarrett, sisters Diane Cousineau, Margot Solomon (Ron), Lorraine Charois, sister-in-law Linda Perlikos (Panyotis), and granddaughters Laura and Lindsay. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Dorothy (Hergott), sister Janet Anstett and brothers-in-law Maurice Anstett, Leonard Cousineau, and Ray Charois. Remembered by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends too many to number.

Born December 17, 1936 Herb made his mark in his youth as a skilled hockey player. He was a master mechanic tasked with keeping the police vehicle fleet running, first at the City of Waterloo and later, with its creation, for the Region of Waterloo, retiring in 1994.

Herb’s pride was his family and his farm residence in St. Agatha where he lived until his death.

A long-time member of the Waterloo Chippers Old-timers, associate member of the Waterloo Region Police Association, and sponsor of the Association Car club, Herb was a friend to all who knew him and will be missed by many.

Herb was proof that we are what we repeatedly do, and that excellence is not an act but a habit.

At Herb’s request, cremation and a private family burial will take place.
