Linda Weichel posted a condolence
Thursday, September 26, 2019
I just saw this notice now, and wanted to add my thoughts and condolences for the family. My parents - Ross and Yvonne - and my sister Leslie have many wonderful memories of playing badminton and tennis with Helen over the years. I have many fond memories also of Helen with a pint of draft beer enjoyed after the games amidst friends. She was wise, funny, and generous, inviting my sister and I to play with her as we were growing up, even though she was in a league of her own. Linda

Allen & Cindy Nethercott posted a condolence
Friday, July 5, 2019
Allen and Cindy Nethercott would like to express our condolences at the loss of our Aunt Helen. We remember her as a quite, soft-spoken inspiration. Many knew of her athletic achievements, but I’m told she also had a way with animals and it was often her job to handle the work horses during harvesting in her youth on the farm. The last family member of your Nethercott generation, you will be missed. Allen and Cindy, and Daniel Nethercott.

So sorry to hear of Helen's death. I had last spoken to her as I did the research for her nomination to the Region of Waterloo Hall of Fame and was delighted that the committee voted on her acceptance. The day of her induction was great and I could tell that she was very humbled and pleased to be included.
I have so many memories of Helen from all of my years playing tennis at the Waterloo Tennis Club and helping with the large Western tournament that the club used to hold.
I have to chuckle at the memory of playing against Helen and if I made a good shot she always said " why didn't you play like that when you were my partner!"
We had such good fun at the club for so many years.
She was quite the woman and will be missed by many.

Bill & Monica Johnston posted a condolence
Tuesday, July 2, 2019
Bill & Monica Johnston would like to pass on our condolences to the Nethercott family at the passing of Aunt Helen. We were all saddened to hear of her passing.
I have had many fond memories of Aunt Helen that were made upon our vacation trips to Ontario when I was a kid, as well as the times that she traveled West to visit or to compete in sporting events. We all have lost a very warm and loving member of our family and the last survivor of that generation of Nethercott siblings.
Our kids too have very memorable memories as they considered her a great example of staying young and fit with all her sports.
Love from, Bill and Monica Johnston, Michelle & Jason Langelaar, Devon & Makenzie, Blake & Tanya Johnston, Alaska, Phoenix and Jordan, Courtney, Craig & Vanessa
