Obituary of Gordon Chambers
Gordon died on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Freeport Hospital in a circle of music and story telling.
Gord’s full life began in Burford, Ontario. He met his first wife Patricia Anne Telfer (1933 - 2007), on the local ball diamond where Gord was the umpire and Pat was the back catcher for the Blue Birds. They married in 1954 and moved to Waterloo where Gord was a school principal for 34 years. They were charter members of Parkminster United Church. Throughout his life, Gord spent his summers at the lake, as a counsellor at Bark Lake Leadership Camp and later as a cottager at Sauble Beach and Pike Bay.
Gord is lovingly remembered by his children Nancy, Richard (Chris), Chuck (Johanna), Paul (Craig), and his grandchildren Mandy (Sam), Melissa, Ken (Syd), Brad (Melanie), Steve (Jasmine), Jake (Jennifer), Brett, Tommy, Samantha, great grandchild Chloe, Pat's family, his many nieces and nephews, and especially by Marion Mutton, his devoted wife for the last eight years.
Gord’s children extend their appreciation to the Mutton family for their support and love over the years.
Gord is predeceased by his first wife Patricia Telfer, parents Walter Chambers and Caroline French, and his siblings Helen (Pete), Murray (Lorna), Mildred (Bill), and Audrey (Larry).
Friends are invited to share their memories of Gord with his family during Memorial Visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday July 31st, 6:00pm-8:00pm.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Gord’s life will be held at Parkminster United Church, 275 Erb St. E., Waterloo on Thursday, August 1st at 1:00pm with Rev. Joe Gaspar officiating.
