My thoughts and prayers are with the Theroux family! They will have a plethora of memories filled with laughter and love. I did not know Denis personally but know he was a big influence and larger than life personality within his son Mike and family lives. He will be very missed but lovingly cherished!

I just opened up my Facebook page and saw that Denis had passed. I have many memories of Denis and all of them are good ones. Denis was one of those larger than life people who seemed to look problems in the eye and hit them head on. I worked with Denis in Edmonton and played hockey with him and spent countless hours hanging out at his house. It was a sad day for me when he moved out east. I remember installing weeping tile with him and it was so cold the tar took forever to heat up. We all showed up with winter clothes, gloves and toques and Denis was wearing a open vest light shirt and a hard hat. I remember running a wheelbarrow full of gravel down to him and lost control runnning right into him. I thought I had hurt him but he just looked at me smiled and said you can't hurt steel. He always had that smile no matter what was happening.
Yes he was a man of steel with incredible strength inside and out. He had a huge heart. I never was any good at hockey or weeping tile but he always had patience and encouragement. Sleep well my friend and I will see you again on that special day, thanks Denis.

I feel blessed for knowing Denis! We went to different trips together. One he like a lot was at the St Jacob’s Miniature Train museum. These miniature houses and people transported him back in his youth. He was showing me brands, stores, products he was familiar with.
A week before his passing, my husband and I went to visit him and talked about the good all times. We missed him at our Christmas lunch at the Mandarin, especially because this was when we celebrated his birthday. One time the waitress brought him a red cowboy hat to distinguish the birthday boy, but he wouldn’t put it on initially, so Marguerite did. They hugged each other and this was his Birthday photo.
On Sundays, we met for the prayer group and I was always rushing to get back to my daily chores. But Denis and Marguerite would stay to take care of the church.
I always looked to Denis when I was down and just remembering his commitment and unending energy helped me to pull myself up.
I know that I will miss him, especially at our Seniours events, but his selfless life will be always an example for me! And I know that there are so many lives changed because of his kindness!
