Trudy and I offer our most heartfelt sympathy to George's family & friends and we especially remember and pray for Stuart & Karen & their children who we have known for a long time. May the sorrow that accompanies loss be swept away by the memories of a life lived to its fullest and a life with you in it. God give each of you peace of mind, body and spirit in the days to come.
God is with you. You are never alone. Dennis

My condolences to Shirley, whom I met many times, and to the rest of George's family.
During George's terms as chairman of the UWaterloo Department of Pure Mathematics before and after 1980, his leadership brought us at least four new young mathematicians, these people subsequently becoming a very strong backbone for that part of the university. His effectiveness in that regard has been very positive, and will last for a long time. I've been retired for 10 years, but stay connected, and often hear good memories about George when I am there at the university.

Shirley, keep those wonderful memories of George in your heart as will we. Auburndale can be very proud of George, he was a Nova Scotian through and through. I was always amazed at his hidden talents that to us were astounding

While I have worked at Court at Laurelwood for only a short while, the twinkle in George's eye is what caught my attention and what I looked forward to seeing when I was walking through the building. Recounting the story of how he met Shirley on New Year's Eve and the relationship that followed, filled this girl's heart with deep respect and awe. I will miss that twinkle and am grateful for having known him, even if it was for only a brief time.
