Ashley and I loved our uncle very much growing up we would spend a lot of time together. I remember I was crying one night to go home and he wasn’t sure how to handle it so he gave me some water and Advil, told me he loved me and pat me on the head... although we didn’t get to spend much time together in the recent years, our love is eternal and I know deep in my heart that Ashley, his dad, grandma, uncle john and the others that have predeceased him met him at the golden gates of heaven, may we all take comfort in knowing that uncle Dean is not alone and is watching over all of us with no more pain and suffering.
“But in all of the sadness, when you’re feeling that your heart is empty, and lacking, you’ve got to remember that grief isn’t the absence of love. Grief is the proof that love is still there.” – Tessa Shaffter

My favourite memory
Dean was young. He was afraid of the dark when he was in bed. I would lay down facing him. He always put his
arm around me and stare with his big eyes into mine. We would talk together
then when he was calm he would say
I love you. I would say I love you more.
Then we would both giggle.
When he fell asleep I would still watch his face. He was a beautiful child so loving and giving. His innocence touched my heart deeply.
As he grew up he never lost that look.
I loved seeing photographs of Dean with his two dogs. There was always that look I remembered.
He was heartbroken when he lost the first one.
We did not see each other a lot later on in life, Canada is so big and we all live so far from each other. We talked on the phone still feeling the love we have.
Being so far from my family is my life’s heartbreak.
My grief is losing Dean and regret.
I have learned I must get the time to be in person with those I love. It’s now to late with Dean.
I will close my eyes and bring him close to me in spirit and perhaps see those innocent eyes again.
There is no more darkness for you now.
This is no goodnight, goodbyes only
see and feel you very soon my baby.
Love will survive.
Your Aunty Jody x

I worked with Dean for 16 years at Erb Transport where we became good friends. After I left Erb and moved to New Brunswick we stayed in touch and joked about him coming to visit and teaching me to fish. I will miss him and our conversations very much! Rest in peace my friend. My sincere condolences to all of Dean's family. -Kevin Bowman

I met Dean on several occasions, the first time was at a camp in Port Albert; We shared a few drinks and some quirky conversation, only to find out that he was my daughters father in law. When I asked him why he didn't tell me, he said "he didn't want things to be awkward...lol.
On the more sincere side of him, was when my dog was hours away from her journey over the rainbow bridge, he shared his support and he cried along with me and gave me the biggest hug.
Dean you will be greatly missed. RIP

Dean loved life, the company of friends and family. Several years back, in old Montreal he purchased his Leaf jersey ever hopeful for a return of his favourite team to hockey glory. He loved playing poker, watching an action film, eating a hearty meal along with a stout ale. His dogs gave him unconditional love and he loved them back. Dean's years of strenuous, demanding labour from the military to a trucker's life are now over. Rest in peace dear fellow.
