My deepest sympathies to Nat, his beautiful boys and all those who love him. I have been thinking of you and praying for you all.
I had the pleasure of knowing Raph and all of his wit at Sun Life. He was an amazing leader. But more than that, he was an amazing person who was hard working, kind and funny. He has made a huge impact on so many and will be truly missed.
The road ahead will not be easy, but he will always be in your hearts. I pray for strength for all of you during this difficult time.
Rest In Peace Raph

My deepest condolences to Raph's wife, children and family during this very difficult time. I worked with Raph at Allianz. You always knew he was around by his loud clapping and greeting everyone he encountered. He was always sharing a story, a joke or encouragement. He truly was an inspiration and a mentor to so many. We spent a lot of time talking about work, our families and future goals when we worked together. I was so excited to see what he was going to achieve in his new role at Economical. I will miss him and his sound advice. I promised him that I would pray for him everyday when he became ill, that God would take care of him and his family. Life does not seem fair sometimes. May you rest in peace my friend.

Nathalie and family, I'm so sorry for your loss. When Raph worked at Sun Life, I remember him being energetic, opinionated, open to new ideas, and wise beyond his years. I followed his career after he left Sun Life and we stayed in touch off and on over the years. He not only made an impression on people, he also made an impact. He will be sorely missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heartfelt condolences on the loss of a truly great human being. Raph was a funny, smart, and extremely hardworking individual who always had time for someone. For the limited time that I had worked with Raph, it seemed as if I had knew him for years as we would throw wise cracks at each other almost daily. He helped me personally and professionally when I needed it the most and always ended our conversations with "alright toasty" and a firm hand clap. My heart goes out to his family - you are all in my prayers.

I am heartbroken at the loss of this beautiful person and the most vibrant, uplifting co-worker, friend and leader I have ever known. Raph made an impact on our lives from the moment started. I had the pleasure of orienting him when he joined the company, and I knew we had someone special when he "tried out" his new office chair and executed several impressive ergonomic maneuvers. The jokes started from there, and not a day went by that we didn't share a joke or a chat or a laugh. I know Raph's spirit will live on, and there couldn't possibly be a more perfect way to honor him than to try to spread positivity and joy, as he did, every day. We miss and love you Raph, and extend our heartfelt condolences to your dear family, and to all who knew you.

Sending the warmest of thoughts to Raphael's family. I am deeply saddened by your loss.
I worked with Raphael at Allianz and loved his humour! In the corporate world, making people laugh is a gift, and Raph gave that to us everyday. I also appreciated Raph's smarts and enjoyed our conversations about the customer experience, art, the environment and our children. It was clear that he adored his sons and was so proud of them.

My heartfelt sympathy to Raph's family for your loss.
I had the pleasure of knowing Raph while we worked together at Allianz. His various ways to catch my attention as I walked down the hallway were off the wall hilarious including the nickname of ‘Badger’ he bestowed upon me. Our many many conversations included business, politics and music. But the conversations I will cherish the most are the ones we had about being fathers to our boys. The meltdowns, the countless sleepless nights – at the end of those exchanges we smiled at each other and said ‘we wouldn’t change being a father for the world.’ He adored being a father to his boys and loved his family very much.
I will never forget his intelligence, kindness and humour.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
Rest in peace mon ami.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I can't imagine the pain you're all going through. I remember Raphael in many positive ways-with a big smile and a great sense of humor, always great with a story.” I had the pleasure of knowing him through Allianz. He was so intelligent, witty, and he always had a smile on his face. He would always reassure us when things got crazy at work that things would get better.
And what a great drummer he was! I had the pleasure of hearing him play at one of our office Christmas parties. RIP Raphael. You have touched the hearts of many people. ♥️

My deepest condolences to Raphael’s family. May you find peace knowing that he is not suffering any longer. I lost my husband 41/2 years ago now and I know the pain is hard to bare right now and we will never understand why God takes certain angels up to heaven early. I’m here if you ever need a shoulder. He would have wanted you to be strong for your boys. Surround yourself with people who love you to help you through.
I worked with Raphael at Allianz and he was always so nice to me, pure jokes on stressful days and I even went to see his band play at a bar in Waterloo.
I’m sharing some photos.
We always shared laughs at offsite conferences as he was so genuine and true to himself. He will be missed by so many who knew him. I’m so sorry that our loved ones got Cancer. Until we meet again, forever they will stay in our hearts.

Raph was funny, kind and incredibly smart. He was successful at everything he did. I’ll miss his humour and his phrase “It’s gonna get greasy Kay Dubbs”.
Sending lots of strength to his family and friends.

Raph & I go back to teen years. We met through mutual friends and became good friends ourselves. Raph even had me jump into his Broken Throttle band and fill in on vocals when they had a misfortune in Seaforth one evening. From hanging out in Goderich garages to chilling in Stratford, Raph was a great guy and wonderfully intelligent person to talk with and hang around. We drifted apart on our own pathways through life, but were able to reconnect and catch up not too long ago. Sadly, I wish it wasn't the last time we spoke. The world has lost a kind soul and even greater person. So long Raph. We'll chill again brother. Rest easy my friend.

Every time I travelled for business to Canada to visit our operating entity, I made it a point to stop by Raph’s office. I not only knew I would learn something from him given his talent and smarts but I knew we would also share a laugh as he was always upbeat and smiling. We always caught up about our families and shared stories of being father’s to two young children. We typically saluted each other in Italian given his roots and my provenance from southern Italy. My deepest condolences to his family. The world is a lesser place without him. “Non ti chiediamo perché ce l’hai tolto ma ti ringraziamo per il tempo che ce l’hai donato”.

Raphaël is one of those rare people whose distinctive laugh would almost always be heard before you saw him coming; It was a good day if the laugh was accompanied by a slow hand clap. I had the pleasure of working with Raph for five years at Allianz and have a hard time thinking of a more well-liked and respected guy, which is so rare for someone in an upper leadership position. While humour was his "opening line", Raph gained our trust through what looked like effortless intelligence and insight. For Nathalie, Félix and Cédric: He spoke very lovingly of you and it was evident that you were his greatest passion. I am very sorry for your loss and pass on my most heartfelt condolences.

Raph always kept everyone laughing around him, and at the same time he took people seriously and treated them with true kindness. We met on a school trip and it was the start of a very long friendship, for which I am deeply thankful. The kid in this photo was in grade 8 and, as always, making everybody smile, feel good, feel heard. I have so many fond memories of Raph. Chatting and laughing while enjoying some Brie, his kindness when I was mortified by a bad hair cut, him playing soccer in our yard with Cédric and my son Matthew. I was blown away by his talent when we saw him play at Chainsaw.
I remember him telling me he had cancer while we were trick-or-treating and that when I asked what we can do to help he said to just be there for Nathalie. I was again blown away but this time by his selflessness while about to embark on such a difficult journey. His passing is a real tragedy. I had had the opportunity to briefly work with Raph at Allianz. He had a great sense of humour. In our Skype instant messaging program at Allianz each employee has a default grey silhouette of a person as a profile picture. If you looked closely at Ralph’s you could see a smiley face roughly drawn into the silhouette. A very subtle yet elaborate act of humour brought a smile to my face.
