Obituary of Raphaël Joseph Luigi Spaleta

Raphaël Joseph Luigi Spaleta passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife and friend Nathalie Guérin, sons Cédric and Félix Guérin-Spaleta, mother Elisabeth (Pfeiffer) Spaleta, father Adolfo Spaleta, mother in-law Céline Châteauneuf, brothers Christopher Spaleta (Maria), Jesse Spaleta (Sarah), Gregory Spaleta, Daniel Spaleta (Keiko), brother in-law Christian Guérin (Julie), lots of beautiful nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He will also be greatly missed by many dear friends and family, too many to name.

Raphaël was born in Edmonton, Alberta in May of 1981. He grew up in Goderich, Ontario, the oldest of five sons. He loved music and became a great drummer. After studying international business at Carleton University, he launched his business career working at Sun Life Financial, then joining the Allianz team to become a Senior Director and rising to Vice President of Operational Analysis and Reporting at Economical Insurance.

In Ottawa he met the love of his life, Nathalie Guérin. They moved to Waterloo and had two sons, Cédric and Félix, that Raphaël loved dearly.

Raph (as we called him) was a leader. Everything he did, he was good at. He made it look so easy that he helped others believe they could be good at things too. Everyone who knew Raph was inspired by him. He was funny, intelligent, strong, determined, brave, loving, and kind. These qualities were even clearer in his year-long battle with cancer. If anything, Raph grew kinder and more loving until the day he died.
 

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to attend the visitation for Raphaël, personal face coverings are required, and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) by calling the funeral home at 519-745-8445. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  A private family service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. The funeral service in Raphaël's honor will be available Livestream to everyone who wishes to attend.  To register for the livestream service please visit www.erbgood.com

Raphaël Joseph Luigi Spaleta est décédé paisiblement le 9 novembre 2020 entouré de ses proches. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée Nathalie Guérin, ses fils Cédric et Félix Guérin-Spaleta, sa mère Élisabeth (née Pfeiffer) Spaleta, son père Adolfo Spaleta, sa belle-mère Céline Châteauneuf, ses frères Christopher Spaleta (Maria), Jesse Spaleta (Sarah), Gregory Spaleta, Daniel Spaleta (Keiko), son beau-frère Christian Guérin (Julie), des nièces et neveux qu'il aimait beaucoup. Il manquera également à de nombreux amis et famille.

Raphaël est né à Edmonton, en Alberta, en mai 1981. Il a grandi à Goderich, en Ontario, l'aîné de cinq fils. Il adorait la musique et devint un batteur accompli. Après ses études en commerce international à l'Université Carleton, il a lancé sa carrière en affaires à la financière Sun Life, puis s'est joint à l'équipe d'Allianz pour devenir directeur principal et ensuite vice-président de l'analyse opérationnelle et des rapports à Economical.  

À Ottawa, il a rencontré l'amour de sa vie, Nathalie Guérin. Ils ont déménagé à Waterloo et ont eu deux fils, Cédric et Félix, que Raphaël chérissait.

Raph (comme nous l'appelions) était un leader. Il était bon dans tout ce qu'il entreprenait. Il faisait les choses avec une grande facilité, ce qui inspirait les autres à exceller. Il était drôle, intelligent, fort, déterminé, courageux, aimant et gentil. Son combat d'un an contre le cancer a démontré davantage ces qualités. Au cours de la dernière année, Raph est devenu encore plus attentionné et plus aimant avec son entourage.

En raison des restrictions du COVID-19, pour assister à la visitation, un masque personnel est requis, et la famillle et amis doivent s'inscrire (RSVP) en appelant le salon funéraire au 519-745-8445. Les visites auront lieu au salon funéraire Erb & Good Family, 171 King St. S., Waterloo le mardi 17 novembre 2020, de 14h00 à 16h00 et de 18h00 à 20h00. Un service familial privé aura lieu le mercredi 18 novembre 2020 à 15h00. Le service funèbre en l'honneur de Raphaël sera disponible en direct pour tous ceux qui souhaitent y assister.
