Dearest Aunt Eleanor:
You will be fondly remembered for many characteristics. Your contagious giggle and twinkle in your eyes will always be with me.
I wish we could have played Scrabble online between Ontario and British Columbia. You were always a regal, gracious lady.
We lived many miles apart after I left home, but you always kept in touch with a neatly, well written letter at Christmas. One summer you came to Vancouver with A. Dolores and we had a glorious visit together walking through Queen Elizabeth Park.
It saddens me that you suffered with such pain over the last year. I was privileged to be able to read the 23rd Psalm over the phone 2 weeks ago to you. Your optimism shone through even then when your wispy, weak voice said; "Bye for now".
With many tears and a heavy heart I say goodbye. You are released from this earthly pain.

Aunt Eleanor always brought mom a gift of Oil of Olay for her birthday when she and Willard came to visit. I would put some on mom’s face regularly. They both had beautiful complexions and hope, what ever they are up to, that they are heaving fun.
The Reibling and Mckinley families were very blessed to be able to call these Johns sisters their mom.

The "King" family was very fortunate to have Eleanor in our lives. Her kindness, wisdom and wonderful sense of fun made family gatherings extra special. Through the years she watched our children grow up and helped mark many of their milestones from sporting events, confirmations, graduations, weddings and the arrival of the next generation! She and my Dad enjoyed holidays at the cottage - summer and winter - where Eleanor always spoiled us with lots of baking, often taught us a new card game and never passed up joining a campfire gathering!
Eleanor was a wonderful example of living life to the fullest with kindness and grace. We loved her dearly and will miss her.

We feel so blessed to have had Eleanor join our family. In addition to being a grandma to our children, she was such a kind, caring and generous person. Her forward-thinking, open-minded, and joyful attitude will be missed (as will her infectious laugh, rhubarb crisp, jellied salads, sudoku skills, and fresh strawberries). She was such a brave and courageous women who endured adversity with so much grace, dignity, and wisdom. We will miss her greatly!
