CARTER (LILLIE), nee Clark, Patricia Anne,
Pat peacefully and quickly crossed over at St. Mary’s Hospital on January 26, 2021 in her 76th year. Treasured wife and soulmate of Brian. Cherished mother of Kenneth Lillie and his wife Miriam of Cobalt, Karen Lillie Filiatrault and her husband Don of Kitchener, Kim Hill and her husband Sammie of Kitchener, Breanne McArthur and her husband Steve of Cambridge, and Greg Carter of Waterloo. Beloved Nana of her “rays of sunshine:” Kayla, Dylan, Nolan, Myles, Mollie, Timothy, Clara, and Gabriel.
Pat was born and raised in Toronto, and moved to Kitchener in 1966. Before retiring from the Waterloo Region District School Board in 1998, she taught in many schools across the county as a classroom and special education teacher, consultant, vice-principal, and principal for 34 years. Everywhere she went, she enjoyed the camaraderie of students, staff, and parents, sharing many happy, memorable moments together. She quickly came to love her second career in the travel industry, eagerly checking out various destinations for her clients.
Pat was a member of the Retired Women’s Teachers of Ontario Association and served as the first president of the Waterloo County Women's Teacher's Association. She enjoyed her years with the Canadian Federation of University Women promoting human rights, public education, social justice, and peace. She was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority for numerous decades. She was a faithful member of Forest Hill United Church.
She is predeceased by her birth parents Mel (1961) and Isabelle Clark (1968), and her former in-laws Ron (1996) and Nora Lillie (1995). Pat is survived by her sister Susan Clark presently in Arizona, her former sister-in-law Jean Lillie of Toronto (Ron 2014) , and her former husband Barry Lillie of Kitchener with whom she shared three children. Beloved aunt of Michelle, Michael, Jeff, Ron Jr. (2014), and Laura; “adopted” member of the St. Cyr family: John and Dianne of Ancaster; Paul and Karen of Edmonton; Mike and Kim of Michigan and their families. Dear friend of Liz and Fred Hughes of Kitchener, and Rick and Wenda Krupp of Bermuda. Honorary aunt of Susan Whyte, Brad Hughes, Nadia Krupp, and Jason Krupp.
Pat lived her life for her family, friends, faith, and career. Her smiles, laughter and caring nature will be missed by all.
At Pat’s request, cremation has taken place. Due to Covid restrictions the memorial service will be closed to the public, but will be livestreamed at www.erbgood.com on Monday February 1 at 2pm. The family invites you to share your stories and photos on the tribute wall at www.erbgood.com A public celebration of her life will be held at a future time when it is safe to occur.
