Many years have passed and yet fond memories of Hilde-Hirtle come to mind. Hilde-Hirtle was a compassionate and dedicated nurse, a valued team member and a mentor. In a humble manner she spoke with great love for her family. She had a green thumb and her flower beds were picture perfect. I am grateful for the years we worked together at St. Joe’s. She made night shift pleasant! My sincere sympathy to her entire family. Joan Haid

Tante Hilde was the epitomy of love, patience, and forgiveness. There was only one time in all the years that I heard a crabby note in her voice. It was the family picnic way back when we used to have it at Riverside Park. The aunties had just finished setting out the food on the picnic tables. Onkel Fridolin was goofing around with a few of us kids and a soccer ball not too far away. He gives that ball a mighty kick. It goes a hundred feet in the air, and comes down square in the middle of the potato salad!
Boy, did she give him a blast for that!

My family and I first met Hilde back in the late 50th when we visited German speaking families in Guelph looking for some spiritual connections - ie in the German language and Hilde was among them. My family later moved to Ottawa but somehow we always kept in touch and when visiting K-W generally attempted to be in contact with her. I last saw Aunt (as we called her) Hilde in December 2019 and had a lovely visit with her. May her soul rest in peace. Ute Gerbrandt nee Fiebig
