Hilde completed her earthly journey in the early morning hours after a long and fulfilling life. Born on November 19, 1923 in Prussia, Hilde passed peacefully at home on Saturday, March 20, 2021.
Predeceased by her loving husband Fridolin Karl (2004), and remembered as a loving mother to Regina Arthur, Wolfgang Karl Hirtle (Mireille), John Hirtle, Peter Hirtle (Donna), and Ruth MacNeil (David). Omi/Nanny will be greatly missed by her eleven grandchildren: Carson, Julie, Todd, Shawn, Kelan, Carrie, Isaac, Anna, Jordan, Justine, and Deanna.
Emigrating to Canada in 1957 Hilde, Karl and their young children settled in Guelph, Ontario along with the Neumann and Packull families (her last remaining relatives). A nurse by training, Hilde soon accepted a position with St. Joseph’s Hospital where she worked for over 25 years and was fondly remembered by staff and residents as “Mother Hirtle.”
Hilde was an individual who loved gardening and will be forever remembered for having beautiful flower beds and an abundance of vegetables. Her faith in God was the guiding force in her life, shown daily to those around her whom she loved with all her heart.
