I worked with your dad for some time (We are not supposed to have 'favorites' but I didn't care, he definitely was my favorite, and I'm not the only one who thought so). Although his body may have failed him, his memory did not. He told story after story of his life; his heartaches and his victories. He was an eternal gentleman, and had a generous heart, it was easy to see why people loved him. It was my pleasure to care for and know such a person, and I will miss him immensely. I hope you have found peace John, God bless you, and thank you for the memories.

My condolences to you and your family John, your tribute to your father was well said and very accurate in many ways, as I got to know him after working with him for a couple of decades.
I have a couple of memories that I would like to share with you.
The care and concern that he had for me when I was about to build a new home. He looked at the plans and asked me with concern, are you sure that you want to build a home of this size and value; looking after me like a father.
Your dad agreed to help build a small shed for a friend of mine on a Saturday am, he was going to instruct a few of us labours and try and get the shed to the point that we could complete it on our own. He agreed to give us five hours at $20 per hour, the plan worked, at 1:00 pm the shed was almost finished thanks to your dad. My friend handed your dad the $100 and your dad promptly handed four twenty dollar bills to four children that were present, and stated that all he required was the $20 that was remaining.
He was a caring person as well as an excellent framing carpenter.

I will always remember my time working for John, he taught me how to work hard (and how hard it was to try to keep up with a man almost 35 years older than me). Rest in peace, John.
