Edith Eugenie Gallagher, of Kitchener, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, age 98.
Edith was born in Lodz Poland to Alfreda and Karl Fender on March 28, 1923. She made Canada her home in 1954 where she met her late husband, and father to her children, Alvin Gallagher. Edith was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her family was always a major source of pride for her. For decades she was critical to the success of the family moving business and also a devout member of the Glen Acres Baptist Church.
Edith is survived by her children, Charles Gallagher, and Edward Gallagher; grandchildren Karl Gallagher, Robert Gallagher, John Gallagher, Steven Gallagher, Laurel Gallagher, and Tegan Gallagher, Melody Sang; great-grandchildren Alexander Robinson, Frederick Gallagher, Lawrence Gallagher. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Gallagher; parents Alfreda and Karl Fender, and son Brian Gallagher.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, to attend the memorial visitation for Edith, personal face coverings are required, and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) at www.erbgood.com or by calling the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A private family memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Bill Horne of Glen Acres Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Family and friends are invited to view the livestream and recording of the service at www.erbgood.com
