Obituary of Katherine Dorothy Weigel

On Saturday, June 19, 2021, Katherine Weigel, age 79, peacefully took her last breath and joined her husband, Arnie, in heaven.  

Kathy will be greatly missed by her daughter Brenda (Ross Bartels), her son Brian (Leah Kennedy and her son, Colin), her grandchildren, Wesley Bartels and Brooke Weigel, her sisters, Eleanor Beitz, Ruth King and Nancy (Joe) Kostroman and many other family members and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Arnie and parents Margorie (nee Wiegand) and Walter Koerber.

Kathy was very proud of earning her Bachelor’s degree from Waterloo Lutheran (now Wilfrid Laurier) University.  She was a Human Resources manager for many years, first at Simpsons/The Bay/ Hudson’s Bay Company and then at Manulife.  

Kathy was a very involved member of St. Stephen Lutheran church for many years, serving as chair of the Church Council and being very active in the church choir.  She enjoyed a lifelong love of music which included playing piano and organ at church, teaching piano and singing in the Kitchener Philharmonic Choir.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Road East, Kitchener, Ontario N2M 3W2 on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A reception with a light lunch will follow at the church.
