Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, age 63.

Beloved son of Rhoma and the late Frank Thorn. Cherished brother of Ken (Susan Tupling) Thorn and their son Andrew, and Bill Thorn.  He will be forever remembered by special friends Doug (Jodi) Clarke and as Uncle Bob by their children Adam (Yvonne), Ryan (Beth) and Jason (Tara).

Bob was a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.  He was an active volunteer with Logos and a Beaver leader for 37 years with the 38 Kitchener Scout group.

Bob had a long and successful career at Dominion Life / Manulife spanning more than 37 years.  Starting as a developer in group insurance, he transferred to a systems role supporting advisors for the rest of his career.  He enjoyed the social aspects of Dominion Life as part of the bowling, hockey, football and baseball leagues.  Co-workers raced to the old cafeteria where he'd be waiting with the euchre deck for a lunch time game.  Bob kept stats of wins, losses, euchres and the super-euchres which they all loved.  After hundreds of games and his departure to a new building, he framed the final stats, and hung them on a wall for the ongoing amusement from the old days.  As a team member he could be relied on to bring his intellect, patience and humour to all situations.  He could be relied on to get done whatever was needed but not without random whiteboard writings, hidden book games, or Bobo the clown to bring a light-hearted mood to the most difficult projects.  He brought a smile to the face of everyone who had the joy of working with him.

Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Grand River hospital for all of the assistance and support they provided during Bob’s battle with cancer.
