Obituary of Helen Rose Gelinas

Helen was born in Sarnia Ontario to Mathew and Sophie Pacovsky who had immigrated in 1929 from Bratislava. 

Helen’s life was defined by her deep care and kindness, and the positive impact she had on others.  She was a loving wife to Gilles of 54 years, mother to Jill, Marc and Susan, grandmother to Madeleine and Benjamin, a dedicated friend and an outstanding educator.  She believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well.  She spared no effort, either personally or professionally, in the service of others.  Her legacy lives on in her family, the students she taught and the countless lives she impacted on her journey.  Helen’s life and actions speak for themselves. 

To attend the visitation and Funeral Mass for Helen, personal face coverings are required, and relatives and friends must register (RSVP) at www.erbgood.com or by calling the funeral home at 519-745-8445. Visitation will take place at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Wednesday August 11, 2021, from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 80 University Ave W, Waterloo, on Thursday August 12, 2021, at 2:00pm.
